US Embassy states that there are nearly 90,000 Indian students in the US on study visas

Over 90,000 study visas have been granted by the US Mission in India this summer, in June, July and August. According to official information published by the Indian government last year, there were close to 4,65,791 students enrolled in US institutions in 2022 on study visas. The Open Doors Report 2022, which was published on November 15, also revealed that India's percentage of all international students grew from 11.8 to 21.8%. India has now surpassed China in terms of the number of foreign students studying in the US.
