The clubs of Women's Christian College held their auditions in the first and second week of July 2023 in search of fresh talent. There was a surge of messages on the official classroom groups as different clubs sent information regarding their auditions.
Casual briefings, persuasive speeches, and words of encouragement were showered on aspiring candidates, as each club released its date for auditions. Most of these targeted the new slew of first year students who have joined college this year. While first year students were the main recipients of these gestures from their seniors, second and third year students who had gained more confidence in their skills also became key players in this massive talent search.
"I was extremely anxious, and I didn’t even want to audition, though I wanted to join a club, but fortunately my friend convinced me and told me it'd be okay and that I should just give it a shot," said a second year student who got selected for the Literary and Debate Club. This mixture of anxiety and excitement was not only limited to the students who came to audition, but present among the coordinators as well. “I know our club is well known. Still, I worry if we have done enough promotion. I hope we get a lot of new students who want to join us this year. The more, the merrier!” said the assistant coordinator of Western Dance Club when asked about the auditions.
The buzz around auditions is yet to die down, as many clubs are planning to conduct a second round of auditions soon.
