NCC camp held on police grounds

CATC cum IGC RDC selection camp conducted by 1(TN) R&V SQN was held at Tamil Nadu Police II Battalion, Avadi, from 26 August to 4 September.

The Avadi Special Police Department graciously offered to share their space with the Madras Group A cadets and staff to conduct the official preliminary selection camp for the Inter Group Competition prior to the Republic Day Camp selection and training. This camp was organised by the Remount and Veterinary Squadron alongside their Combined Annual Training Camp.

Schools and colleges which provided campsites during previous years were occupied, which resulted in this camp being way overdue. During such a crisis, the Avadi Special Police Department offered their support. This is the first time the Department has opened its doors to NCC cadets in the Chennai and Vellore zone.

This site, apart from being a police training ground, houses the armoury of the entire Avadi Police Force. Though a single misstep in a site as sensitive as this could lead to huge repercussions, the Police Department trusted the NCC and Army Officers, allowing four hundred and twenty-seven cadets to stay and train here with necessary security checks and rules.

Cadets were strictly forbidden from bringing their phones out of their barracks. Photographs anywhere on the site were prohibited. Both Cadets and Officers of the Armed Forces and NCC were also restricted to using a single pathway for movement between the training area and the barracks.
